Vision for Provo - Maintaining and Preserving Provo’s Diversity
Having been born and raised in Provo, I fully appreciate it’s diverse character. While at it’s core, it is a university town, past policy makers have created an environment where student populations can coexist with long-term residents, families, and businesses. I love the fact that we have a vibrant commercial center and an identifiable downtown. I also love the fact that we have room for people from all income ranges, occupations, and a variety of demographics.
We are fortunate to not have the extremely difficult challenges associated with rapid population growth and development that other cities in the county face. Our challenge lies in keeping our current delicate balance sustainable for another generation.
My vision of Provo for the next 8 years is one where we have resolved the tensions and conflicts associated with the diversity. We will come up with permanent solutions that accommodate the needs of students while preserving the livability that attracts and retains families and businesses.
